Automatic fire sprinklers will be required in all new construction for single family residences effective January 1, 2013. The Board of County Commissioners are going to have a work session on March 13, 2012 to discuss this requirement. The Garfield County Comprehensive Plan 2030 will be used as an advisory document for current and future Boards of County Commissioners (BOCC) following a vote Monday, August 15, 2011. The BOCC voted to consider the document as a guideline for development across the county, and recommended that section 1-107A of the code be changed to reflect that intent. There are multiple sections of the Unified Land Use Resolution (ULUR) code that ask land use change applications to be in adherence to the plan.
