Air quality in Garfield County
Garfield County Public Health is committed to addressing citizen concerns about activities in the community, and the region, that affect air quality related values. There has been a great deal of local growth to support the development of air quality programs in Garfield County over the last several years. All of our air quality projects fit within an overall air quality management program framework. This framework has been implemented over the last several years through a variety of efforts, which have included ongoing ambient air monitoring, updates to local emissions inventories, the development of health risk assessments, an assortment of education and outreach efforts, and a variety of special collaborative projects by our department.
Our staff works diligently to make sure that we’re approaching air quality management using a very systematic and scientifically based approach and a very proactive/community-based approach as well. To successfully keep our air clean, we need you! The county’s ongoing efforts include the implementation of a comprehensive, community stakeholder developed, air quality program management plan. Successful implementation of this plan will rely on continued collaboration with state and local jurisdictions, industry, businesses, and you. Please let us know how you can support our efforts.
