Red Hill recreation area officially reopened

The new parking and trails area at Red Hill Special Recreation Area near Carbondale has officially opened to the public. New parking and hiking and multi-use trails were constructed, and County Road 107 was realigned. Garfield County provided $428,000 toward the CR 107 realignment and new parking construction, all of which was completed by Garfield County Road and Bridge.

Permits

Garfield County Road and Bridge handles permits for oversize or overweight trucks, for driveways, for utilities and for transportation.

New school bus stop signs

School has started, and Garfield County is in the process of updating school bus stop warning signs throughout the county. The goal for the new high-visibility signs is to increase safety and awareness.

District 2-3 facility & administration offices

Garfield County District 2-3 Road and Bridge facility
This facility houses the foremen and crews from District 2 and District 3, the mechanics, the administrative staff, as well as the director of the Road and Bridge department. The foreman and crew assigned to District 2 maintain the Rifle/Silt/Parachute area north of the Colorado River or the 200 roads. The foreman and crew assigned to District 3, maintain the Silt/Rifle/Parachute/Battlement Mesa area south of the Colorado River or the 300 roads.

District 1 facility

Garfield County District 1 Road and Bridge facility
The district foreman and crew assigned to the District 1 facility maintain the county roads in the South Canyon / Glenwood / Carbondale area, or the 100 roads. The District 1 facility is a satellite shop for Garfield County Road and Bridge, where only equipment and materials are stored. All maintenance performed to the vehicles is done at the District 2-3 facility location.
