Garfield County Deputies located a vehicle in Glenwood Springs that was reportedly stolen from Greeley, Colorado. Deputies attempted to contact the person driving the vehicle however, the driver refused to stop.

A pursuit was initiated on westbound I-70. Deputies continuously monitored traffic and road conditions to determine if the pursuit could be continued safely. The Silt Police Department deployed a tire deflation device on I-70 near Silt. The device successfully deflated three of the four tires.

The pursuit continued at a slower rate of speed for several miles. Deputies followed the suspect assuring that westbound traffic did not overtake the disabled vehicle. The vehicle lost control and came to a stop at mile marker 77 on the westbound lane of I-70.

A male and female, Jesse Andrew Jabonero, date of birth: 08/28/1992 and Justina Rocha, date of birth: 05/06/2002, out of California, were arrested and transported to the Garfield County Jail.

Charges included:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft – First Degree
  • Vehicular Eluding (felony)
  • Criminal possession of a forged instrument (possess counterfeited) (felony)
  • Criminal Possession of an identification document
  • Failed to drive in a single lane (weaving)/changed lanes when unsafe
  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, emergency medical services etc. (misdemeanor)
