Popular country music star Josh Turner headlines the 2016 Garfield County Fair & Rodeo concert
PRESS RELEASE
March 15, 2016
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Josh Turner, a multi-platinum MCA Nashville recording artist, headlines the 2016 Garfield County Fair & Rodeo concert, announced Garfield County and concert promoter, KMTS, Tuesday.
Turner is one of country music’s most recognizable hit makers. With a rich, deep voice and distinctive style, Turner has sold more than 12 million units, is a disciple of traditional country music, and one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry.
From his 2003 Platinum-selling debut Long Black Train to his most recent 2012 Billboard No. 1 release Punching Bag, Turner has garnered multiple GRAMMY, Country Music Association (CMA), and Academy of Country Music (ACM) nominations. Turner’s hits include “Your Man”, “Why Don’t We Just Dance”, “Firecracker”, “Would You Go with Me”, “All Over Me”, and “Time Is Love” – the most played country song of 2012.
The Garfield County Fair is August 1-7, 2016, at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, 1001 Railroad Avenue in Rifle, supported by presenting sponsor, Alpine Bank, and dozens of other local sponsors. Turner will be the headline performer at the August 5 concert.
Turner has also added author to his list of creative accomplishments. His first book, Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood was released in 2014.
The Hannah, S.C. native has been songwriting and performing since he was a young child, and in support of music education, created The Josh Turner Scholarship Fund to assist students interested in pursuing a future in arts and music. As a high school student, Turner had very little access to music education, therefore realizes first-hand the importance of arts education in schools.
“The concert during the Garfield County Fair has grown in popularity with a sell-out crowd last year,” said Garfield County Fair and Events Coordinator Doreen Herriott. “And last year, the premium seating sold out weeks before the fair. The talent we have been able to acquire has been instrumental in attracting these crowds, and we are pleased to be able to step into the arena of bringing Josh Turner to our fair this year, which is an even greater attestation to the talent we can garner!” Garfield County holds concerts with a family-friendly perspective, enhancing the county fair experience.
Cooperation between the Garfield County Fair Board and the Garfield County Commissioners has boosted the fair to new heights in recent years, and the county has invested more than $4.5 million in the fairgrounds in recent years, to propel it into a community events center.
Also new this year, the fair will feature a monster truck show with performers from Traxxas on Sunday, August 7, also at the Garfield County Fairgrounds.
Tickets for the fairs ticketed events, including PRCA ProRodeo, Xtreme Bulls, the Josh Turner concert, a demolition derby and the monster truck show go on sale June 1. Concert tickets range from $10-$60 each. Visit www.garfieldcountyfair.com to purchase online tickets after the release date. For more information on Josh Turner, visit www.JoshTurner.com.
