The Jesse Beckius/Casey Owens Veterans Resource Center at 801 Colorado Avenue in Glenwood Springs is open following an expansion of its offerings and grand reopening ceremony on June 13. From the office, the Western Slope Veterans Coalition provides a hub for information, programs and activities for local veterans.
The Western Slope Veterans Coalition (WSVC) has invited the community to celebrate the expansion and reopening of the Jesse Beckius/Casey Owens Veterans Resource Center in Glenwood Springs on Sunday, June 13, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A celebratory ribbon cutting and presentation of military colors takes place at 1 p.m.
Garfield County has appointed David Pruett as new veterans’ services officer for a two-year term that began on July 13, 2020. A request for qualifications yielded five interested individuals, of which Pruett was determined to be the best fit for the role. An honorably discharged Navy veteran (Navy Special Warfare), Pruett was active duty for almost five years before injuries ended his military career prematurely. He works as an appraiser in his hometown of Rifle and has volunteered in the past as a firefighter for the Rifle Fire Protection District, ski patrol at Sunlight Mountain Resort and Garfield County Sheriff’s
