LiveWell Garfield County awarded $75,000 Inspire Initiative grant
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) has named its first pilot communities for its new $25 million Inspire Initiative, and LiveWell Garfield County will receive a $75,000 grant. The goal of the Inspire Initiative is to get kids off the couch and out the door, from the backyard to the backcountry. The Inspire Initiative is a new grant for 2015 from GOCO. The grant initiative is a five-year strategy aimed at inspiring Coloradans, particularly kids, to appreciate, enjoy and take care of the great outdoors. LiveWell mini grants spring 2016 application due March 1
Distribution of awards ranges from $500 to $5,000 as part of $40,000 in mini grant funding for 2016. Funding is awarded for: outreach to create healthy eating and active living behaviors, increasing of healthy food consumption and activity levels for people living in Garfield County communities, encouraging worksite wellness programs, and engaging schools and municipalities in upcoming events. LiveWell mini-grants fund parks and gardens in the community
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – LiveWell Garfield County has recently awarded $19,457 to local entities, in the second installment of mini-grants awarded for 2015. The fall grant cycle compliments $20,793 in mini-grant funds awarded in spring of this year, totaling $40,250 for the year. This is the second year that LiveWell Garfield County has awarded approximately $40,000 to local community applicants. The most recent round of funding will enhance projects focusing on gardening, reading education, and nutritional education. The Town of New Castle and Sopris Elementary received two large grants.
