LiveWell Garfield County awarded $75,000 Inspire Initiative grant
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) has named its first pilot communities for its new $25 million Inspire Initiative, and LiveWell Garfield County will receive a $75,000 grant. The goal of the Inspire Initiative is to get kids off the couch and out the door, from the backyard to the backcountry. The Inspire Initiative is a new grant for 2015 from GOCO. The grant initiative is a five-year strategy aimed at inspiring Coloradans, particularly kids, to appreciate, enjoy and take care of the great outdoors. Generation Wild establishes places for kids and families to connect with the outdoors
GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. – Appreciation and care of Colorado’s great outdoors are essential for Coloradans’ high quality of life to endure. That is why Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) created the Inspire Initiative, which establishes places for kids and their families to play and connect with the outdoors; creates programs that activate those places; and promotes pathways to outdoor stewardship and leadership roles. In 2017, GOCO launched a social change movement replacing the Inspire Initiative called Generation Wild. Garfield County receives GOCO Inspire Initiative grant for more than $1.5 million to get kids outside
DENVER – On Friday, the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) board awarded an Inspire Initiative grant in the amount of $1,570,541 to Garfield County and a coalition of partners, called Get Outdoors Garfield County, for the group’s work to get kids outside. Garfield County’s grant is one of nine Inspire Initiative implementation awards made in this cycle, totaling $14.125 million. The funding brings GOCO’s investment in Inspire to date to more than $29 million, including a $4 million grant from the Colorado Health Foundation, a $75,000 grant from the Boettcher Foundation for rural communities, and a $50,000 donation from DaVita.
