GCPH: Take caution as pediatric respiratory infections increase

There has been a rapid increase in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections across Colorado, particularly among infants and children below the age of two. In addition, cases of COVID-19 and flu continue to spread. Brainard appointed deputy director of Public Health
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Garfield County Public Health has named Sara Brainard as its first-ever deputy director. Most recently public health’s nurse manager, Brainard has worked with the department since 2001. “Sara possesses a unique level of experience with a background in local, state, and global public health work,” said Garfield County Public Health Director Joshua Williams. “She knows how to navigate difficult situations to get things done for the people of Garfield County. Garfield County Public Health awaiting shipment of COVID-19 omicron dose vaccine

Garfield County Public Health is awaiting the arrival of the officially approved Pfizer and Moderna updated COVID-19 omicron dose vaccines. The vaccines are designed to offer protection from the original COVID-19 virus and the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. Garfield County vaccine clinics will be announced once the vaccines are available. As of August 31, 2022, Pfizer and Moderna’s original COVID-19 vaccines are only authorized as primary series vaccines for people aged 12 years and older.
