Harvey Gap Road closed

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The Harvey Gap Road was closed at approximately 7:00 PM today from Odin Drive to the Harvey Gap swim Beach. The road was damaged and its overall integrity compromised due to a leak in a ditch that leads out of the reservoir.

It is unknown at this time how long the closure will last. Road and Bridge has been notified and will be assessing the road damage and developing a course of action. People should plan alternative routes east through New Castle or west along the Rifle Gap Reservoir and back through Rifle if the road remains closed. If you choose one of these routes, please allow adequate time for your travels.

This may affect commuters, local residents and school bus traffic tomorrow and possibly longer. Please plan accordingly.
