Garfield County Public Health offers clinics for flu vaccines

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Fall vaccine clinics organized by Garfield County present opportunities for the public to be immunized at very reasonable rates for influenza.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that flu vaccine for the 2012-13 influenza season has begun shipping from manufacturers, and will continue to arrive for immunizations throughout the fall. For the 2012-13 flu season, the CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older should get an annual vaccine. While currently the CDC reports very little flu activity, the season usually begins in October and can last through May.
No appointments are necessary for community clinics in Garfield County. Adult flu shots or nasal mist are only $20, and children’s shots or nasal mist are $10, payable by cash or check. The health department accepts Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and CHP+.
