Garfield County property tax notices were mailed on Jan. 29, and residents can expect them in the coming days. Approximately 31,000 account notices were mailed for expected tax collections of just under $200.4 million, down from $232.8 million last year.

Per statute, property owners may pay taxes in halves or all at once; the deadlines for half payments are Feb. 28, 2025, and June 15, 2025. As June 15 falls on a Sunday, June 16 will be honored as timely received. The deadline for a full payment is April 30, 2025.

Collections for 2025 are distributed as follows: Kindergarden-12th-grade school 42.2 percent; local college districts 4.5 percent, local municipalities 3.1 percent, special districts 30 percent, and the remaining 20.4 percent is retained by the county.

Property owners can make payments online through Municipay, a secure payment portal linked with the Garfield County Treasurer’s website. Owners may also sign up for autopay notifications. Online payments are subject to a $2 flat fee on electronic checks, or a 2.95-percent fee on debit or credit cards ($3 minimum).
