New additions to Shop With a Cop

GCSO deputies, Silt Police Department took kids shopping at Walmart in Rifle

PRESS RELEASE
December 13, 2024

This year, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office has added new dimensions to “Shop with A Cop”.

For the past several years the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office has set aside a day to take children on a Christmas Shopping Event at the Wal-Mart in Rifle, Colorado. This year the Deputies will be joined once again by the Silt Police Department. This year, for the first time, Officers from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation will be joining the efforts.

Go to the GCSO Facebook page for more information and videos.

This collaborative effort of various law enforcement entities exemplifies the cooperation needed by all agencies to keep the residents of Garfield County and our various municipalities safe while humanizing the badge and law enforcement officers that serve us to our youth in Garfield County.

Funds for “Shop with A Cop” come from community donations. This year, for the first time the Bear Cat will also be on scene at Wal-Mart beginning at 8 until about 11 a.m. The goal is to “Stuff the Bear Cat” with new toys. The donated toys will go to foster children and economically challenged families with the hopes of making their Christmas just a bit brighter.

Come by Wal-Mart Sunday morning, December 15, from 8 until 11:30 a.m. and see law enforcement and youth together in this annual celebration of Christmas as they interact together to spread joy and compassion throughout our community.

If you are so inclined, bring a toy to “Stuff the Bear Cat” and meet a few of these dedicated Officers who are a part of the “All Hazards Response Team”. They train diligently throughout the year to provide added support when needed in critical situations throughout Garfield County and in some cases to our neighboring counties.

The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office wishes a Merry Christmas to “All”.
