Garfield County Fair Board appoints new chairs

Costanzo elected board president; Harris appointed vice president

The Garfield County Fair Board has named its new president, vice president and sub-committee chairs. Klayton Costanzo was elected board president, Duston Harris named vice president and Kate Lewis returns as secretary.

The fair board also named Lisa Nieslanik the Livestock Marketing Committee president and Kim Wilkie is back at the helm as Garfield County Fair and Rodeo Open Class chair.

“I am honored and humbled for this new role within such a great board. I want to thank Levy Burris for his veteran leadership and his continued involvement and overall dedication to the fair and rodeo,” Costanzo said. “I am excited to get things back on track so that our community can rally around each other and overcome the many challenges we have faced this past year.”

Garfield County Fair and Rodeo Fair and Events Coordinator Cassidy Evans said she’s very excited to see the new and continuing board members in their roles and is anticipating a spectacular fair next summer. The annual event is scheduled for July 26 – Aug. 1, 2021.

“We appreciate all of our board members and the time they put in to making the Garfield County Fair & Rodeo a great event year after year,” Evans said. “We are excited to welcome Klayton and Duston into their new roles and appreciate Kate taking on another year as our secretary. Being on this board is a big commitment and we are thankful to have all of our board member’s ideas and time to help plan what we know will be a great 2021 fair and rodeo!”

The Board of County Commissioners thanked all the members of the fair board for their service and approved the appointments unanimously, 3-0.

“I want to add a big thank you to all those who have served in the past for their leadership, and especially Levy Burris, who has been the Garfield County Fair Board president for the past nine years,” said Commissioner Mike Samson. “A big, big thank you to Levy, who is still on the fair board and continuing to offer his expertise.”
