Elected officials’ swearing-in ceremonies Jan. 12

Commissioners to be sworn in at 9:30 a.m., district attorney at 10:30 a.m.

Swearing-in ceremonies for recently elected Garfield County Commissioners and the 9th Judicial District Attorney are taking place on Tuesday, January 12. Ninth Judicial District Judge John Neiley is officiating both ceremonies.

Incumbent Commissioners John Martin and Mike Samson are being sworn in at 9:30 a.m. in the Garfield County Administration Building, 108 Eighth Street, Glenwood Springs, in the commissioners’ regular meeting room. This event is being streamed online for public viewing and a link can be found on the Garfield County website at garfield-county.com/board-commissioners/meetings.

In a separate closed ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the Garfield County Courthouse, incumbent District Attorney Jeff Cheney is being sworn in along with 12 deputies and three investigators, all serving a tri-county region for the 9th Judicial District in Rio Blanco, Garfield and Pitkin counties.

A Garfield County Board of County Commissioners special meeting is scheduled immediately following the earlier ceremony. More information can be found at garfield-county.com.
