Garfield County Air Show: A New Beginning
The annual Garfield County Air Show is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 8 & 9, 2011 at the Rifle Airport. Admission and parking are free.

Airshows are all about fun memories with family and friends. To celebrate the completion of the new airfield, the airport staff has arranged a spectacular airshow that will entertain and amaze you with aerial acrobatics, ground displays, a country music concert, kid’s attractions, food, games and aircraft rides that will make this year’s airshow the most memorable to date.
The highlight of the event will be Aaron Tippin’s Red White & Loud concert sponsored by Alpine Bank, Drive 105, and Mr. T’s Building and Hardware. Tippin and a Commemorative Air Force B-24 airplane will fly into the Rifle Airport and provide a rare performance. Aaron Tippin said of his tour, “Acknowledging the history of this great nation, and the service men and women who make our freedoms possible is stellar, and I’m happy to champion the organization’s effort.”

This two day event begins Friday, July 8, at noon. A children’s airshow takes off at 1 pm. With all the fun, free inflatable activities and crafts, It makes this a great time to celebrate a child’s birthday with us. Call for reservations, as space is limited for birthday parties.

At 4 pm, the main airshow takes off, and kids will be amazed by the jet-fueled school bus called “School Time.” This bus breathes fire and rockets down the runway at 367 mph. After a dinner break (6-8pm) the airshow really revs up with our night time show, sponsored by Mr. T’s Building and Hardware. The night time show includes the Golden Knights US Army Parachute Team, Aerostars, Matt Younkin, Bill Leff and the amazing 1,000 foot “Wall of Fire.”

Saturday, the gates open at 11 am for aircraft rides and lunch, followed by a repeat of Friday's main airshow starting at 1 pm, and the free Red, White & Loud concert starting at 2:30 pm. A beer garden will be set up both days with an expanded seating area inside to watch the concert from.
The airshow gates open Friday at noon and Saturday at 10 am. The Garfield County Airport is located in Rifle, Colorado, two miles east of Walmart on Airport Road. No general seating available. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and other items for comfort for a hot July day. For airport security, no smoking, coolers or pets are permitted.
