Ballots mailed to all active Garfield County voters
Garfield County has mailed 36,618 ballots for the 2022 General Election to all active registered voters. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8; voters who haven’t received their ballots by Oct. 24 should check their registration information at www.govotecolorado.gov. It is recommended that any voters who are returning ballots by mail do so no later than Nov. 1. New Garfield County precinct maps available online
Adjustments have been made to Garfield County’s precinct maps following input taken from the 2020 U.S. Census. There are 27 precincts in Garfield County, each with less than 2,000 voters apiece. The Garfield County Clerk’s Office has checked each registered voter to ensure they are in the correct precinct through the Statewide Voter Registration System (SCORE). “We checked the city, school district, fire district, recreation district, hospital district, so we can make sure voters are in the correct tax districts so they can vote on all the measures that may affect them,” Garfield County Clerk and Recorder Jean Alberico. New state law aims to replace faded license plates
The state of Colorado is implementing a new law that requires drivers to replace their old license plates with new ones that are more easily readable by law enforcement. License Plate Expiration on Change of Ownership Act of 2021 (SB21-069) is designed to aid police efforts during Amber Alerts or if law enforcement needs to read a vehicle’s license plate number in low-light situations to improve public safety. 2021 Coordinated Election
The 2021 Coordinated Election Day is Tuesday, November 2. Ballots must be received at a 24/7 ballot drop box, a Voting Service and Polling Center (VSPC), or the Garfield County Clerk’s offices in Glenwood Springs or Rifle by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Vehicle registration grace period ends July 1
An extension of the normal 30-day grace period for vehicle registrations in Colorado is ending on July 1, 2020. An executive order issued by Gov. Jared Polis in March granted the grace period, as well as waived the late fees during that time, for registrations that expired since January of this year. The Garfield County Clerk and Recorders Office has been working since offices closed to the public March 17, handling customers’ needs each day by email, mail and over the phone. More than 33,000 ballots are being mailed out on Monday, June 8, to all active registered voters in Garfield County for this month’s Primary Election. Colorado’s Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties are holding statewide primaries on Tuesday, June 30.
Presidential primary ballots in the mail Feb. 10
Colorado’s registered Democratic, Republican and unaffiliated voters are soon receiving ballots for the 2020 Presidential Primary Election. In 2016, voters supported Proposition 107 by a margin of 64 to 36 percent, returning the presidential primary to Colorado in presidential election years for the first time since 2000. Garfield County is mailing 32,289 ballots out on February 10 for the election, which takes place on “Super Tuesday,” March 3. State motor vehicle system driving into the 21st Century
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Colorado’s Motor Vehicle computer system is being updated this summer to provide customers with the best quality service possible. The new system, Colorado DRIVES, is slated to go live on Aug. 6. In order to ensure a successful transition, motor vehicle staff from Garfield County – and in all motor vehicle offices across the state – are training for three months through July. GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Garfield County is demonstrating new voting equipment to the public in both Glenwood Springs and Rifle next week. Voters can check out Clear Ballot’s ClearVote system and familiarize themselves with the new equipment, which is versatile and accessible for all users. The Clear Ballot voting system will be presented as a 2019 budget request to the Board of County Commissioners; if approved, this equipment will be used for 2019 elections. Changes coming to New Castle, Carbondale precinct boundaries
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The boundaries of several voting precincts in Garfield County are being adjusted for growth prior to the 2018 caucuses. Voters in Carbondale’s precincts one through four, and New Castle’s 14 and 15, will receive notices by mail explaining which precinct they reside in after the changes are finalized. These changes will not occur until after the Nov. 7, 2017 Election Day. In Carbondale, a precinct boundary that ran through the middle of town is being shifted out to Highway 133. Arrest made in embezzlement investigation
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The Glenwood Springs Police Department has made an arrest as the result of an investigation involving the alleged embezzlement of funds from revenue collections in the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Former Garfield County employee Robin McMillan was arrested for theft on August 5, 2014, and she immediately posted bond for her release. Official final results for the 2013 Coordinated Election are certified
GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Garfield County Clerk Jean Alberico and election judges have certified the final results of the 2013 Coordinated Election. Voters cast a total of 13,710 ballots, including 397 property owner ballots, which is 46 percent of registered voters in Garfield County. “I was somewhat surprised that the voter turnout ended up at 46 percent, since the returned ballots were coming in so slowly at first. GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – The 2013 Coordinated Election on November 5, 2013 is a mail ballot election with a new twist.
