September 5 meeting to offer water quality presentation

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO - The Garfield County Energy Advisory Board (EAB) announces the appointment of four new board members. The new citizen representative for the Rulison/Holmes Mesa/Morrisania Mesa areas is Jack Castle of Parachute. Tom Vondette, Rifle, is the citizen representative for the Taughenbaugh Mesa area. Kimberly Bullen of Rifle will participate on the board for the City of Rifle, and AJ Hobbs of Carbondale will serve on the EAB for the Town of Carbondale. The Board of County Commissioners approved the new members August 19.

The Energy Advisory Board reports to the Garfield County Commissioners, and was created to provide a forum for the oil and gas industry, the public, impacted landowners and local government. The board's goal is to prevent or minimize conflict associated with oil and gas development through positive and proactive communication and actions that encourage responsible and balanced development of resources in Garfield County.

The EAB still seeks additional Citizen Representatives for the Dry Hollow Creek area and the Una Bridge/Wallace Creek/Spring Creek area to serve at EAB monthly meetings. Interested county residents who reside in one of these areas are encouraged to apply. Details and the required application form are available online at

The Energy Advisory Board will hold its next meeting Thursday, September 5, at the Rifle Branch Library from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. The Middle Colorado Watershed Council will present information regarding water quality planning efforts in Garfield County. Citizens are welcome to attend.
