Clay Walker, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Professional Bull Riders to headline Garfield County Fair

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO - Multi-Platinum selling music superstar Clay Walker will headline the Garfield County Fair concert Friday, August 8, 2014. As a true fan favorite with a devoted legion of followers across the country, Clay Walker has sold over 11 million albums, and has had 11 No. 1 hit singles, four RIAA Platinum and two Gold certified albums under his belt. His most recent ninth studio album, She Won't Be Lonely Long, received critical praise from fans and media alike.

In addition to presenting Clay Walker, the 2014 Garfield County Fair will feature two other sorts of top level professionals - Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) riders and Professional Bull Riders (PBR). The events are all slated August 4-10, 2014 at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle.

Walker, who recently returned to the studio to work on new music set for release later this year, will entertain concertgoers with some new music, as well as crowd favorites from the last twenty years, like "What's It To You," "This Woman and This Man," "If I Could Make A Living," and "Rumor Has It." His smooth, evocative voice and energetic stage presence have established Walker on the national stage.

"We are excited to feature Clay for our fair this year," said Garfield County Fair & Events Coordinator Doreen Herriott. "He is a talented star and one of the more well-known singers that we have attracted to the fair. His music is well liked by a wide range of audiences from young fans to older ones, and that should make this concert a sell out."

Clay's opening act may be less known, but is rich in talent as well, the Redhead Express. The four young and vibrant sisters in this act grew up in Alaska and now make Nashville home. Talented singers and musicians, all four come together on stage, amazing crowds powering brilliant traditional country and bluegrass tunes from fiddles, guitars, a banjo and even a cello. This group is aiming for Platinum status on the national stage.

Rodeo fans will receive top level performances here at home this year when they see internationally experienced Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association riders perform in Rifle. PRCA, headquartered in Colorado Springs, is the largest and oldest rodeo-sanctioning body in the world, with approximately 600 of the most elite multiple-event rodeos on the continent, in 37 states and three Canadian provinces.

Professional Bull Riders is an international professional bull riding organization from Pueblo with more than 1200 cowboys from at least five countries holding PBR memberships. They get 8 seconds to prove their skills on each hard-charging bull ride.

"Some of the top names in rodeo and stock will perform this year right here in Garfield County," said Garfield County Fair Board Vice President Cody Smith. "With professional cowboys, bull riders and sanctioned events, our fair is competitive with fairs in much larger counties, and we are excited to make this happen as a board. Rodeos and the western way of life are big in this county." Smith is the director of the board of directors of Colorado Association of Fairs and Shows.

In its 76th year, the Garfield County Fair and Rodeo also includes 4-H and FFA livestock shows and Junior Livestock Sale, open class displays, as well as a family rodeo, a demolition derby, a car show, mutton bustin' and talented backstage musicians.
