2018 closures

Garfield County offices closed for Independence Day

All county offices of elected officials and county administrative departments will be closed Wednesday, July 4, for Independence Day. Staff functions that serve the community in emergency or 24-hour capacities will remain in operation as needed, but administrative offices of such departments will be closed.

Garfield County is currently under Stage 2 fire restrictions, as well as a ban on all firework use. This ban encompasses all items, including those which are legal to purchase in Colorado. Use of toy caps, sparklers, snakes, smoke bombs, fountains, and all other items that ignite are prohibited.

The Stage 2 fire restrictions are also in place for all municipalities in Garfield County, as well as on U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands. Restrictions include no campfires, or wood or charcoal burning; no smoking outside of a building or vehicle; no use of any explosive, including bullets, explosive targets, or model rockets; and no welding or spark-emitting cutting.

The Rifle Garfield County Airport will be open for general aviation, although the airport's administrative offices will be closed. Anyone needing assistance at this time can call 970-230-1685.

The Garfield County Landfill west of Rifle will be closed on Wednesday, July 4.
