Garfield County has adopted a new Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan that prioritizes natural disaster risks and focuses on ways to prevent loss of life and destruction of private property.

Heating assistance
LEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible hard working Colorado families, seniors and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs. The LEAP season runs from November 1 to April 30.

New Castle Ballot Question 2A is tied, 440 - 440. The measure would increase the town's taxes by $330,000 annually for safety, recreation, and economic development. A recount takes place the last week of November.
