Walk-up, no appointment clinics offered at Public Health

PRESS RELEASE
April 23, 2021

Garfield County Public Health now offers the option of walk-in COVID vaccines at any of the scheduled weekly Public Health COVID vaccine clinics.

“Last week our vaccine appointments filled quite fast. But this week we received an influx of vaccine and we have a lot of spots remaining for our upcoming clinics. It made us realize that we may still miss people with difficult work schedules or who don’t have as much access to the internet. It prompted us to shift the way we are operating to make it more accessible and easier than ever to get your shot,” said Carrie Godes, Public Health Specialist.

In addition to offering vaccines without appointments, the health department is working on pop up in clinics around the county and extending clinic hours on weeknights. More than 52% of Garfield County residents age 16 or older have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.

“A lot of Garfield County residents have received their vaccine, but every day we hear stories from food service workers or people in age categories that have been eligible for many weeks now that haven’t been able to get an appointment. We want them to know that we are here when you are ready to get your vaccine,” said Godes.

Vaccine appointments and information can be found online at garfield-county.com/public-health/covid-19-vaccine, on Facebook @GarfieldHealth, or by calling 970-665-6371.
