Latino Community Committee meeting in New Castle

COMMUNITY NOTICE
August 31, 2021

A meeting of the Latino Community Committee is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the New Castle Recreation Center, 423 W. Main St., New Castle.

A roughly 30-minute panel discussion is taking place with representatives from each of the three Garfield County school districts, the Latino Community Committee, and Joyce Rankin, 3rd Congressional District representative to the Colorado State Board of Education. The panel discussion covers current curriculums, COVID requirements, and other issues, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Garfield County Commissioner Tom Jankovsky is the county’s liaison on the advisory committee, which meets monthly in local municipalities to garner as much input as possible from the community. The committee reports to the Board of County Commissioners quarterly; this is the third meeting held by the committee since July, with past forums taking place in Glenwood Springs and Silt.

The meeting is open to the public and comments are welcome. Go to garfield-county.com for more information.
