GARFIELD COUNTY, Rifle, CO. – Celebrate National Adoption Day with Garfield County Department of Human Services as Brenden Rifle 7 Theaters graciously hosts a free community movie screening of “Free Birds.” The event is Friday, November 15, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Brenden Rifle 7 Theaters, at 250 West 2nd Street in Rifle, Colorado.

Residents may sign up to receive more information about becoming foster parents and will receive free tickets to the movie (limited quantity). Guests will enjoy an elegant red carpet experience while the Department of Human Services honors well deserving, local adoptive and foster parents. Families will receive free family photo keepsakes of this special occasion.

Every day in America, children who enter the foster care system as victims of abuse or neglect become available for adoption. Foster homes provide temporary substitute care for children from birth through 18. Approximately 50 children are in out-of-home care in Garfield County. Children don’t need perfection, they need care.

For the past 14 years, National Adoption Day has made the dreams of thousands of children come true by working with courts, judges, attorneys, adoption professionals, child welfare agencies, advocates and policymakers to finalize adoptions and find permanent, loving homes for children in foster care. National Adoption Day is celebrated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. National Adoption Day is an effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. National Adoption Day has helped nearly 44,500 children move from foster care to a forever family.

The opening ceremony will start at 3 p.m. November 15 at Brenden Rifle 7 Theater, followed by the movie. For more information on becoming a foster or adoptive parent, residents are invited to come to this screening of “Free Birds,” November 15. Visitors to the Garfield County Department of Human Services’ booth in the lobby of the movie theater will receive a complimentary ticket to the movie.
