The 2016 Creative Industries Summit is May 5-6 at the Orchard, in the Carbondale Creative District. It is hosted by Colorado Creative Industries, a state arts agency of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

8th Street CLOSURE from Colorado Avenue to Grand Avenue begins this week
May 2-5 - GARFIELD COUNTY/GLENWOOD SPRINGS – 8th Street is CLOSED from Grand Avenue to Colorado. This 24-hour per day closure is necessary for a water line tie-in on 8th Street. Motorists should use 9th Street as an alternate route.

Colorado Creative Industries awarded the 2016 Governor's Creative Leadership Award to Francisco "Paco" Nevarez-Burgueño of Carbondale and two other artists. Winners receive artwork created by artist Vallee Noone.

Bomb squad removes explosives
Garfield County Sheriff’s Office was notified of abandoned explosives material near a residence on County Road 293 Friday. The material was discovered by a new homeowner in a property’s building and removed Monday.
