Trési is a Colorado native who moved to Garfield County with her family 11 years ago. Jeff and Trési have been married for 25 years and have two sons, Sam and Frank. They enjoy snowboarding, skiing, biking and camping together.
As a parent and Colorado native, Trési has a commitment to see Garfield County managed in a responsible manner. With thoughtful planning, she is convinced that growth can occur without negatively impacting the environment. “We are fortunate to live in a county with a wealth of natural assets. With this, comes the responsibility to preserve our natural wonders for future generations.”
As a Commissioner, Trési is committed to working closely with the municipalities and special districts in Garfield County, as well as, neighboring counties. Professionally, she has come to recognize the value of working cooperatively on issues with far-reaching impact.
Since being elected, Trési has taken interest in creating avenues for cooperation between the oil and gas industry, surface owners and mineral rights owners. In the Spring of 2003, Garfield County hired a full-time Oil and Gas Auditor who has greatly enhanced these opportunities. The Garfield County Energy Advisory Board was created in 2004 and has been actively working on oil & gas concerns within our county. She supports the idea of local governments adopting land-use regulations as they pertain to the oil and gas activity within their boundaries, to the extent allowed by law. Trési would like to see Garfield County follow the lead of other counties and adopt such regulations. This legislative season, Trési worked with State Representative Kathleen Curry on a bill that would have addressed oil and gas surface use agreement concerns raised by landowners; although the bill was not successful, it did raise an important discussion at the State level. Additionally, Trési continues to attend and participated in numerous meetings with the industry, residents, elected officials and groups actively involved in the discussion of energy development in Western Colorado.
Housing needs continue to be a concern in our region. As Chair of the Rural Resort Region, Trési took an active leadership role in facilitating the accomplishment of their 2004 projects which included housing workshops and the compilation of the Benchmark Report which analyses population growth, housing, transportation, workforce, environment, education and child care, both on a county level and throughout the rural resort region. This report can be found online at http://www.nwc.cog.co.us She is currently serving on the Colorado Blue Ribbon Panel for Housing, which is working on a state-wide solution to our housing dilemma.
As Chair of the I-70 Mountain Corridor Coalition, Trési has worked closely with the 30 member jurisdictions on assessing CDOT’s Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for the 20 year I-70 Corridor Transportation Plan CDOT is working on. The Coalition will continue to work closely with CDOT through the planning process.
If you have any questions, issues or concerns, Trési would welcome your call.
